The Philadelphia Visitor Center Corporation announced on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Reading Terminal Market that the Phambassadors program has surpassed 5,000 sign-ups in just under five months since launching on April 29, 2025 — well on its way to reaching the goal of 10,000 Phambassadors by the end of 2026. At today’s event, the 5,000th Phambassador was presented with a prize 18 lb. ham from Reading Terminal’s Halteman Family Meats.

Phambassadors is a movement to empower Philadelphians to share their civic pride, deepen their knowledge of the city, and champion its rich culture, history, and neighborhoods. The initiative’s goal is to rally more than 10,000 to showcase Philadelphia’s cultural and historic significance ahead of and during the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration.

“I am so excited to hit this milestone with the Phambassadors program,” said Kathryn Ott Lovell, President & CEO of the Philadelphia Visitor Center Corporation. “Reaching our 5,000th Phambassador shows how much people want to represent Philadelphia and share their civic pride with the world. Philadelphians’ fierce love and devotion for their city is unmatched, and when the spotlight is on us in 2026, our Phambassadors will be ready to help Philly shine.”

Phambassadors will keep momentum strong with a series of appearances and activations across the city, including at several Parks on Tap locations in October, the Wingohocking Neighbors Day Partner Sign Up, East Falls Fall Festival, and a Happy Hour at Triple Bottom Brewing on October 30, where the first 25 attendees will receive a complimentary drink.

The second Pham Camp, held on September 27 at the Independence Visitor Center, sold out in under 72 hours following the success of the first Pham Camp earlier this summer. It welcomed 150 attendees for a hands-on day of community building, creative storytelling, and insider insights.

Anybody who is passionate about Philadelphia is invited to “Join the Pham”, take the Phambassador pledge, and help welcome the world in 2026. After signing the pledge, Phambassadors will be invited to attend a Pham Camp, a fun “bootcamp-like experience to prepare Phambassadors to represent their city. From there, Phambassadors are encouraged to “level up” and volunteer at events leading up to 2026 and throughout the semiquincentennial year.
