The Philadelphia Visitor Center has reached an exciting milestone in its mission to inspire civic pride and hospitality across the city: welcoming its 10,000th Phambassador!
To mark the occasion, the Visitor Center recently honored Philadelphia native and entrepreneur Shakia Williams as the 10,000th person to sign the Phambassador Pledge, joining thousands of individuals committed to sharing Philadelphia’s story and helping visitors experience the city through the eyes of those who know it best.
Launched in Spring 2025, the Phambassador program was created to rally Philadelphians and friends of Philadelphia around a shared goal: representing the city with pride and connecting visitors to its authentic people, places, neighborhoods, and experiences. Surpassing 10,000 Phambassadors represents a major milestone for the program and reflects the enthusiasm residents have for showcasing everything that makes Philadelphia unique.
Williams was recognized during the Philadelphia Visitor Center’s “Pham on Deck” pep rally, on June 8th, where she was honored by legendary 6abc Action News anchor Jim Gardner and celebrated alongside fellow Phambassadors, community leaders, and supporters.
The celebration continued on June 29 when Williams took center stage at Citizens Bank Park, where she threw out the ceremonial first pitch during Phambassadors Night Out at the Philadelphia Phillies game. In a special show of support for the Phambassador program, the Phillies provided a dedicated section of the ballpark for Phambassadors to attend the game together and cheer on Williams.
Reaching 10,000 Phambassadors comes at a pivotal moment for the city. As Philadelphia prepares to welcome millions of visitors throughout 2026, the Philadelphia Visitor Center is expanding its visitor services through new locations at Philadelphia International Airport and Reading Terminal Market, while continuing to grow its citywide network of Phambassadors, youth leaders, volunteers, and hospitality initiatives.
At the center of these efforts are people like Shakia Williams and the thousands of Phambassadors who proudly represent Philadelphia every day. Together, they are helping create memorable experiences, meaningful connections, and the warm welcome that visitors will remember long after they leave the city.
