Philly Phundamentals

For October 2026’s second Philly Phundamentals webinar, the Pham explored how Latino communities have shaped Philadelphia’s culture, neighborhoods, arts, traditions, and identity. The conversation highlighted the importance of celebrating Latino contributions and preserving the stories and traditions that make the city unique.

Moderated by Councilwoman Quetcy Lozada of Philadelphia City Council’s 7th District, the webinar featured Erikka Goslin, Executive Director of Taller Puertorriqueño, and Hector Nuñez, Founder of Wooder Ice.

Erikka Goslin discussed Taller Puertorriqueño’s role in preserving and celebrating Latino arts and culture through community events, festivals, exhibitions, and educational programs. She highlighted the organization’s work connecting young people with their heritage through arts education and the importance of creating spaces where Latino traditions and stories can be shared across generations.

Hector Nuñez shared how Wooder Ice uses storytelling and media to spotlight Philadelphia’s people, places, and businesses. He discussed the importance of giving Latino communities a platform to share their own stories, supporting local businesses, and recognizing Latino contributions across industries, from food and arts to entrepreneurship.

Throughout the conversation, panelists emphasized the importance of celebrating Latino culture year-round, preserving neighborhood history, and supporting the organizations and businesses that keep Philadelphia’s communities thriving.
